Lázaro Ramos was born in Salvador (Bahia) and is an actor, director, host, and writer. One of the most versatile and multifaceted talents of his generation, he began his artistic career with the Bando de Teatro Olodum, a theater collective that became a symbol of artistic resistance in Brazil. Throughout his career, he has built an impressive and award-winning body of work, including around 40 films, 40 theater productions, more than 20 soap operas, TV series, and shows, as well as 12 published books — among them the best-seller Na Minha Pele and the recently released Na Nossa Pele. In theater, he directed, acted in, and produced the play O Topo da Montanha, which has attracted over 300,000 spectators. In 2022, Lázaro released his first feature film as a director: Medida Provisória. The film was a critical and public success in Brazil, staying in theaters for 28 weeks. Internationally released, the film was also featured in numerous festivals worldwide. In 2017, he was named by MIPAD as one of the world's most influential people of African descent under 40. He has also received a personal letter of recognition from former U.S. President Barack Obama, and has been honored at the Toulouse Festival in France and the Lima Film Festival in Peru.
